As we continue to celebrate the 60th anniversary of CEW+, we look back on the many trailblazers who came before us. We fondly remember Jean Campbell, the Center’s first director, whose vision and enthusiasm laid the foundation for what has become a robust community that benefits from our advocacy work, financial assistance, and programming, and adapts to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.
We have enjoyed making new connections and reviving old ones through a series of 60th-anniversary events nationwide. I have been moved by the personal narratives shared by those at these events. You can read three of these narratives, featuring Juliana Roth, Prachi Jain, and Tugsu Armstrong in this issue of the magazine. I hope you are as inspired by their journeys as I am.
Additionally, we are excited to welcome a new cohort of scholars and fellows to the CEW+ community this fall. Their fresh perspectives and ambitions guide our future and are central to our mission. The stories of those featured in this issue underscore the resilience demonstrated by our community.
This milestone year isn’t just about reflecting on the accomplishments of the last six decades; it is proof of the profound impact of the Center and serves as a reminder of the support necessary to maintain our continuing legacy. Reflecting on these stories of perseverance and innovation, I am reminded of the imperative voiced by Jean Campbell, ”it is a matter of fairness.” Your continued involvement enables us to honor Jean and other changemakers in the CEW+ community.

Tiffany Marra, CEW+ Director
