CEW+ Launches Financial Empowerment Initiative
In Fall 2023, CEW+ embarked on a new endeavor to empower the U-M community through the Financial Empowerment Initiative (FEI), a cross-campus collaborative effort to create and launch a series of workshops guided by the expertise of financial therapist Lindsay Bryan-Podvin, LMSW. In alignment with the U-M Well-being Collective and Vision 2034, the FEI series fills a gap in current Financial Wellness programming efforts. While most financial wellness efforts focus on technical aspects of financial literacy, the FEI workshops focus on participants developing a better understanding of their own financial decision-making processes. By delving into the underlying psychological, social, and generational roots that underlie individual financial choices, participants become equipped with the self-knowledge to be empowered to take charge of their own financial well-being.
In these workshops, U-M alum and financial therapist Lindsay Bryan-Podvin helps you make financial decisions with more confidence, explores the origins of your money beliefs, and helps you rewrite your money story for a healthier relationship with money. You learn how to identify and manage uncomfortable feelings related to money, set meaningful financial goals, and establish financial boundaries that work for you. By the end of the workshops, you’ll be better equipped to take control of your financial future.
