Conference Theme – Tools for the Journey: Self-Awareness, Confidence & Respect
The Women of Color Task Force (WCTF) hosted its 33rd annual career conference on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 8:30am – 4:00pm. Attendees were able to select from 22 workshop sessions designed to support their professional and personal development. This event was attended by 453 U-M personnel and community members.
The speaker for this year’s conference was Mr. Alfred Squire, former workforce development manager for the Greenville Health System (GHS) and current director of the MedEx Academy. He spoke about the impact of employee performance on the success of the institution and how employee-employer interactions can directly affect workplace productivity.
The connection between the University of Michigan and the Greenville Health System is that an affiliate staff development network for women of color employees has been created at GHS and it was modeled after the U-M Women of Color Task Force. The organizer of the GHS group will present a workshop at this year’s event.
