Han plans to return to supply chain and operations leadership roles where she can drive sustainable, ethical practices while creating more adaptable work environments for families like hers.

Han Phung is a Master of Business Administration student at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business, where she focuses on business strategy, operations, and supply chain management. Originally from Vietnam, Han has built a career leading operational teams in both the U.S. and abroad. Han returns to graduate school after an eight-year gap to sharpen her expertise in the field.

Han earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston’s C. T. Bauer College of Business in 2016. She distinguished herself as an undergraduate by placing second in the North American Production and Inventory Control Society’s Global Student Challenge competition. She also placed second in the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute’s Research Challenge.

After completing her undergraduate education, Han worked in manufacturing and operations. At Foxconn in Houston, she led cross-departmental teams to improve forecasting accuracy and optimize resource allocation, strengthening efficiency in one of the world’s largest technology manufacturers. Later, as Operations Manager for Trung Nguyen Brick in Vietnam, she introduced process improvements that significantly increased productivity and cost efficiency. Han also co-founded and managed The Teahouse Tapioca & Tea, where she gained firsthand experience in small business leadership, overseeing everything from supplier relationships to customer experience. With her MBA in hand, Han plans to return to supply chain and operations leadership roles where she can drive sustainable, ethical practices while creating more adaptable work environments for families like hers.

As a mother, Han says that moving to Michigan with her daughter to pursue graduate study has been “one of the most challenging and rewarding decisions” of her life. One of her favorite things to do with her daughter is to explore U.S. National Parks. Han has visited 15 parks so far, including multi-day treks that mother and daughter enjoy sharing together.
