GETTING STARTED

Naomi Pee

“This experience taught me to treat my patients with quality as if they were my mother. It also increased my desire to serve people and enhanced my dedication to be a success in my profession.”

Naomi Pee is a model of persistence whose experiences have shaped her into an excellent nurse. She has been married for over 26 years, the proud mother of one young woman and two young men, and grandmother of three girls. Naomi has always been driven to help others, and after her second child, she was determined to go back to school to become a nurse. She completed nursing school while raising and even expanding her young family.

Throughout her nursing career, Naomi again overcame adversity, caring for her mother through a complex illness. Naomi reflects, “This experience taught me to treat my patients with quality as if they were my mother. It also increased my desire to serve people and enhanced my dedication to be a success in my profession.”

Naomi has been a dedicated perioperative nurse for nearly twenty years at Michigan Medicine, where she also serves in COMPASS, a peer support network for Michigan Medicine faculty and staff. Now, Naomi is entering a new chapter and earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UM-Flint, a degree she is pursuing with characteristic determination while continuing to work full-time. Naomi further intends to pursue case management and sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) certifications and, in time, obtain her master’s degree to become a family nurse practitioner. Naomi is deeply committed to serving victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, a drive that is fueled by the experiences of her loved ones. Her ultimate vision is to become a forensic nurse and make an impact by fighting for the rights of all victims of abuse.

Naomi’s colleagues remark that her “potential for future impact in her chosen fields of case management and sexual assault examination is immense,” emphasizing that she will “continue to break barriers and drive progressive change in nursing, uplifting the standard of care with her specialized skills and heartfelt advocacy for patients.”

CEW+ applauds Naomi’s persistence and dedication to helping others through nursing and names her the Christine DiFalco Euritt Scholar.
