Raksha Rajeshmohan
Raksha has become passionate about maternal, child, and adolescent health in global settings, and she strives to take a community-led approach to public health.
Raksha Rajeshmohan is a first-year masters student studying global health epidemiology at the School of Public Health at U-M Ann Arbor with a graduate certificate in entrepreneurship. Before her time at U-M, Raksha earned her bachelors in public health at UC Berkeley where she was a Maternal and Child Health LEAP Scholar and the 2024 School of Public Health Commencement Speaker. At UC Berkley, Raksha had the opportunity to study and work abroad in Botswana for six months. While she worked for the Botswana Harvard Health Partnership, she championed the ethical inclusion of pregnant adolescents in research, and she conducted needs assessments, interviews, and data analysis. This was a formative experience for Raksha, as this was her first chance to advance her knowledge of global public health field methods. Since her time in Botswana, Raksha has become passionate about maternal, child, and adolescent health in global settings, and she strives to take a community-led approach to public health.
Raksha will continue to exercise her knowledge and passion for maternal and child health at the Grenada Red Cross Society on a CEW+ Fellowship. Program leadership at the Grenada Red Cross Society has identified gaps in addressing topics specific to young women’s transition into adulthood, and Raksha will conduct in-depth interviews with young women in this program to assess their interests in discussing topics such as menstruation, sexual health, and relationships. Raksha is excited to collaborate closely with these young women in Grenada to hear about their most pressing needs and co-create strategies to address them. After graduation, Raksha hopes to work for a global health non-profit organization to develop integrated health systems in low and middle income countries.
CEW+ applauds Raksha for her work in the field of public health and names her a Simson Family Graduate Fellowship Fellow.
