Reneé hopes to contribute to global efforts that promote social justice, economic stability, and access to opportunity for underserved populations.

Reneé Price is pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Michigan, with a concentration in management and leadership and a certificate in global social work practice. A lifelong leader in her community, Reneé has spent her time volunteering in multiple sectors, including youth development, women’s empowerment, parental support, and community services. She currently serves as a youth development specialist in Morocco through the Peace Corps. There, she teaches English as well as life skills. She has learned from the people she serves, too: “This experience has expanded my cultural awareness of the vast differences that exist across borders,” Reneé writes.

Reneé’s path to a college degree spanned over a decade as she balanced raising her two children while also working full-time. Reneé earned her Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Phoenix in 2015. Before she returned to graduate school, Reneé built a career working in finance. Her resume includes roles such as financial analyst at Michigan Public Health Institute and senior grant accountant at Peckham, Inc., where she improved financial processes for government-funded grants. Her experiences analyzing social service programs and state funding provide a substantial foundation for her career as she pivots from finance to social work.

Looking ahead, Reneé aspires to work in a leadership role at a global nonprofit organization that addresses critical human and social service issues. By combining her background in finance with her advanced social work training, she plans to focus on analyzing and improving the effectiveness of social programs through data-informed decision-making. Reneé is especially interested in helping organizations better align their financial strategies with community needs, ensuring that resources are distributed equitably and programs are both sustainable and impactful. Ultimately, she hopes to contribute to global efforts that promote social justice, economic stability, and access to opportunity for underserved populations.
