Robyn is committed to mentoring and expanding access to data science careers for underrepresented students.

Robyn Han is pursuing a second bachelor’s degree in data science at the University of Michigan, building on her earlier degree in product design. With a commitment to interdisciplinary learning, Robyn’s academic and professional work bridges the worlds of design thinking and quantitative research to create human-centered, data-informed systems. Her integrative approach was recognized by the College of Engineering’s Center for Socially Engaged Engineering & Design, which honored her with an award for socially conscious technical research.

Currently working full-time as a senior product designer at Esri, Robyn develops intelligence and geospatial analysis tools for public safety applications. Her professional background includes designing advanced machine learning features and managing user experience of the features across sectors such as urban planning, emergency response, and intelligence. Robyn’s work experience has solidified her desire to become a researcher focused on ethical, accessible, and impactful technologies.

Throughout her life, Robyn has maintained her academic focus, enrolling in technical training programs and math coursework in preparation for returning to U-M. She has been readmitted to the university with plans to complete her degree by 2027.

Looking ahead, Robyn plans to lead research that enhances public-sector tools through intelligent systems and affective computing. She is particularly passionate about applying data science in ways that empower those left behind by technological innovation. As a STEM student, Robyn is also committed to mentoring and expanding access to data science careers for underrepresented students.
