GETTING STARTED

Sabrina Morrison

Sabrina hopes to pursue a career in medicine and public health and work to create sustainable, community-driven healthcare systems that prioritize equity, access, and quality care for all.

Sabrina Morrison is determined to become an agent of change in healthcare. Growing up in Jamaica, Sabrina witnessed numerous family members suffer from health care inequalities or lack of access to care, and these experiences have pushed Sabrina to advocate for change and work to break cycles of inequity. This includes a commitment to mentoring and supporting younger students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds: Sabrina founded a nonprofit organization that provides mentorship and support to high school students, and she has prioritized supporting her peers throughout her own academic journey.

Sabrina earned her associate degree at Schoolcraft College, where she fostered academic excellence among her peers as Vice President of Scholarship in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Recognized for her unusual “tenacity and curiosity,” she was also honored with the Clarence C. Jones Excellence in Science Award as one of the top three science majors at Schoolcraft.

Now, Sabrina is building on that success and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biomolecular science with a minor in entrepreneurship at UM-Ann Arbor. As a first-generation immigrant from Jamaica navigating academia largely on her own, Sabrina’s journey has not been without challenges; however, she has excelled at U-M, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. Most recently, she earned acceptance into the MLEAD Leadership Certificate Program and the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), giving her the opportunity to work in a health sciences-focused lab. She has also continued to support and mentor fellow students as an ambassador with Intend to Attend and through Transfer Connections.

Beyond her graduation, Sabrina hopes to pursue a career in medicine and public health and work to create sustainable, community-driven healthcare systems that prioritize equity, access, and quality care for all.

CEW+ applauds Sabrina’s unwavering commitment to uplifting her communities and names her a Margaret Dow Towsley Scholar.
